Russell McOrmond, un de nos invités lors de la présentation-discussion
"des pirates plein la salle" (discussion sur le droit d'auteur)[1], nous
a proposé de présenter le CLUE[2] et ses principales initiatives lors de
l'assemblée générale [3].

Le CLUE, jadis linux.ca, est "l'association canadienne pour le logiciel libre".

Greetings Mathieu and Robin,

  I received an email this morning from Etienne who mentioned that 
FACIL will be having an AGM in April and that I might contact you about 
speaking about CLUE and various policy initiatives.

  I'm wondering if there are things we can do ahead of time as well. 
You may notice that I've started to talk to groups about endorsing the 2 
petitions hosted by Digital-Copyright.ca .  The idea is that when groups 
people are part of endorse the petitions they are more likely to sign them.

  I don't know if you have seen http://cluecan.ca/policy yet, but the 
idea is to come out with policy positions on a number of key areas.  It 
may be appropriate for FACIL to do something similar, having formal 
policy positions that can be presented to politicians and bureaucrats.

  Let me know if there is more we can do together.


P.S.  I was looking at http://facil.qc.ca/Ressources and note that 
OpenOffice.ca is there (mostly dead), but http://cluecan.ca isn't (was 
linux.ca).  I was looking to see if there were policy statements already 
published, but didn't find any.  Then again, I am "linguistically 
challenged" and am extremely slow reading French.

  It all depends on the Q&A portion.  It can be quite short, focusing 
on the overall change that happened at the beginning of this year and 
some of the policy initiatives up to that date.   It is possible we may 
be mid-election or mid-debate of a copyright bill by April...
