I have been playing with Zimbra, and having a LOT of problems wit the install script. I downloaded the ubuntu package ( since mint is ubuntu) and its saying im missing packages like sudo and a few others, which i checked and have. So iedited the script to not check for these, and just hitting more errors. Anyone have these problems too?

Zimbra looks nice, but does it take a lot of resources?

Okay Admittedly my problem with zimbra was that there was no package for Debian lenny/sid.

less work... with Zimbra all the s/w is pre-integrated... not in the
repos, but it is open source, and there are debian & ubuntu

I have a buddy who built a vm to run zimbra, and that's it (moves the
vm around, when the hardware needs to change.) been a couple of years
now.

I re-did my own server (as well as several VMs) a couple of weeks ago.

(It's practice for several Certs)

Based on several sources, I went with this list of apps:

- -rcs

- -monit

- -postfix

- -apache2

- -dovecot

- -ssh

- -postgrey

- -samba

- -cupsys

- -bash

- -screen

- -spamassassin

- -ntp

- -squirrelmail (not installed yet)

If you want to have virtual users, you will probably have to configure

postfix with sasldb, LDAP, Kerberos or SQL support.

I like to run Monit because it's small, lightweight and it emails any

changes to the monitored daemons.

Another small advice: it doesn't hurt to run a VM and test your settings

in there first. I also like to have RCS or CVS for config files,

especially if more than 1 admin touches the same server.

Ho, and don't twitter your ssh password, like I did by accident... :)

Happy holidays!
