There's not a lot of information yet about experience with the 1000HE.

The Debian pages make it clear that there are model-to-model 
variations, and aren't yet updated to have detailed information about 
the 1000HE.  There are some indications that some eee models require 
post-lenny kernels.

Most Linux users on eee machines seem to be using eeebuntu, which isn't 
quite DFSG-free.

I'm still eagerly awaiting reports about Debian non-nonfree on the 
1000HE.  I'll be checking those sites regularly.
