What are you talking about? I bought a Novotel MC 950D at Futurecrap and
activated it here in Canada.

I told you that you don't need their access manager, you can just dial the MC950D with a wvdial script or by hand if you want. It's no big deal. Other people have done it and I've done it.

And the beauty is that they are (or were) not even locked so you
can use them abroad as well. I've used mine for 3G speeds in Toronto
and Montreal.

You take your chances with built-in hardware, I know the MC950D works with linux. The MC950D appears at first as a usb stick with windows driver, you eject it and then it appears as a 3G modem, using the option driver in linux and then you dial it with AT command set automated with wvdial.

If you really used wvdial 10 years ago you should be able to figure it out. You only need a couple of AT commands to get it to work.
